Hotels at Universal Orlando That Sleep 5

If you’re planning a Universal Orlando vacation with a larger family or group, it isn’t always easy! Today, we will discuss hotels at Universal Orlando that sleep 5, 6, or more!

Why are we the experts on this at Florida Travel with Kids? We were a family of 5 for a long time and, with our latest addition, are now a family of 6! So we know the hassle of not fitting into a regular hotel room.

We’ve stayed in every single Universal hotel and can not only share the best Universal hotels for large families, but also more tips for traveling to Universal with a family of more than 4.

Before we get started, let me introduce myself. My name is Amy, and I’m a Universal Travel Agent, a travel blogger, and a long-time Universal Annual Passholder. Contact me for more information. I’d love to help you book your Universal Orlando vacation!

If you’re flying into Orlando for your vacation, I recommend renting a car from Discount USA Car Rental. They offer the absolute best rates on rental cars; you don’t pay until you pick it up, and cancellation is free.

Hotel Rooms at Universal Orlando That Sleep 5

Universal Orlando has a variety of options that sleep 5 guests across the resort.

Here’s a look at which hotels can accommodate five guests:

Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort – Family suites sleep 6 with two double beds and a sofa bed. Don’t let the name “suites” fool you; this is a very economical option. Here’s our video tour of the Cabana Bay family suite.

Here are the two beds in a family suite at Cabana Bay. The sleeper sofa is on the other side of the door, in the living area.

Universal’s Dockside Inn and Suites  – 2-bedroom suites sleep 6 with 3 double beds, including a separate room. The main door opens to the living area, so parents with very young children may not like this setup.

Universal’s Surfside Inn and Suites – Identical to Dockside (with different decor), the 2-bedroom suites also sleep 6. We have both a blog post review of Surfside Inn and Suites and a YouTube video of the 2-bedroom suite at Surfside Inn and Suites!

Universal’s Aventura Hotel – Standard rooms sleep only 4, but there is a family room (limited availability) that can sleep 6 with a queen, 2 twins, and a sofa bed.

Loews Sapphire Falls – While it is not themed, they have a family suite option with a king bed in one room and two twins in the other. A rollaway can be added to sleep 5, or you can bring a pack-and-play or mattress.

Loews Royal Pacific Resort, Hard Rock Hotel, Grand Helios, and Portofino Bay Hotel – At the Signature Resorts, most standard rooms will allow 5 with a rollaway option.

You can also sleep 5 with a pack-and-play or air mattress. This is perfect if your family of 5 doesn’t mind close quarters and wants the included Express Passes (except at Grand Helios).

Some, like the Hard Rock Hotel, have larger rooms that sleep 5 more comfortably.

All of the Signature Resorts also offer themed suites that sleep 5. Check out our video of the Jurassic World kid suite at Loews Royal Pacific.

Universal’s Terra Luna and Stella Nova – Neither property offers rooms that sleep more than 4. You’d need to get two connecting rooms, which is generally more expensive than a family suite or 2-bedroom suite at other properties.

Universal Hotels That Sleep 6

If you’re traveling with a group slightly larger than five, certain Universal hotels offer rooms or suites that can sleep 6 or more.

Cabana Bay Beach Resort – As mentioned above, family suites can sleep 6. They also offer a 2-bedroom suite which can comfortably sleep 8 with a queen in one room, two doubles in another, and a sofa bed in the living area. This is one of the few options for a family of 6+ without getting two rooms. Check out the link above for our video tour of the room.

Dockside Inn and Suites – 2-bedroom suites sleep 6.

Surfside Inn and Suites – 2-bedroom suites sleep 6.

Loews Royal Pacific, Hard Rock Hotel, Helios Grand, and Portofino Bay – Larger suites and certain room types can accommodate 6, though these are typically higher-end options.

Some of the larger suites can accommodate more people, and there are plenty of connecting options. Working with a travel agent who is familiar with the resorts is the best way to find the best fit for your family within your budget. Contact me for some assistance.
