Is club level at Universal Hotels worth it?

Is Club Level at Universal Hotels worth it? As a Universal travel agent, I’m often asked this question. Club level at Universal Orlando is generally worth it. Still, it really depends on the upgrade price, how many members are in your party, how much you typically spend on food, and a few other factors. We will discuss all of those things today!

Before we get started, let me introduce myself. My name is Amy, and I’m a Universal Travel Agent, a long-time Universal Annual Passholder, and a big Universal fan. Fun fact: I’ve stayed in every Universal Orlando hotel several times!

I have firsthand experience with the parks, hotels, rides, dining options, and more. Contact me for more information if you’d like to book your Universal vacation with an expert.

So, is club level worth it at Universal Orlando? In a word, YES! Let’s talk about why.

Club Level at Universal Premier Resorts

Club-level rooms and suites are available at three Universal Orlando resorts.

These resorts include:

  • Hard Rock Hotel
  • Loews Portofino Bay
  • Loews Royal Pacific

Universal Helios Grand Hotel may also have Club Level rooms, but we don’t know yet. I will update you once we get an announcement and the hotel opens!

Now, back to the club-level rooms. The three Signature Resorts that offer Express Passes also have club-level rooms and suites available, but they sell out months in advance. What do you get at the club level at Universal Orlando Signature Resorts?

Access to personalized concierge service and the private Royal Club Lounge, which serves continental breakfast, evening beer, wine, and snacks. For a family, the breakfast alone can make the upgrade to club level worth it.

You can even grab water bottles on your way out, which would cost $20 for four at Universal!

Is Club level worth it at Universal Orlando?

Club-level rooms always sell out at Universal, which should signify that they are worth the cost. The cost is often minimal. You have to consider what you’d pay for breakfast, snacks, and alcohol (if you drink it), and 99% of the time, you’ll come out ahead on the breakfast alone.

It is important to note that the “club level” rooms are not different than regular rooms; you are simply getting access to the club lounges. I have found that (especially when traveling with children) the breakfast, snacks, and water alone is worth the cost.

We don’t drink much alcohol at all, so even if you don’t drink, club-level at Universal hotels can still be worth the additional cost.

Is staying in a Signature resort at Universal worth it?

Let’s put the question “is Club level at Universal hotels” worth it aside for just a minute. Is staying at a Signature resort at Universal Orlando worth it? Even without Club access? YES! The Express Passes are so valuable, and often, the Express Passes alone are worth more than the hotel cost per night. If you have the budget, I highly recommend a Signature resort, especially if you’re visiting during a busy time of the year.

Sapphire Falls is a Signature Resort but does NOT include Express Passes, even though the water taxi goes there. Make sure to book Hard Rock Hotel, Loews Portofino Bay, or Loews Royal Pacific.

Check out which Universal Hotels have the water taxi for more information. Universal has made it confusing by removing the “Premier” designation and putting Sapphire Falls in with the Signature Resorts, but we’ll get used to it eventually!

In addition to the Express Passes, the Signature resorts are closer to CityWalk, Islands of Adventure, and Universal Studios. You can access CityWalk via the Garden Walk, Water Taxi, or the busses. I highly recommend the water taxis!
