13 exciting behind the scenes tours at Universal Orlando

Behind the scenes tours at Universal Orlando Resort

Did you know that Universal offers behind the scenes tours at Universal Orlando Resort? While these behind-the-scenes tours at Universal aren’t really a secret, they can be very elusive because you can’t just walk up and get one. Well, you can ask, but 9 times out of 10, you’re going to get a “no.”
So, how do you get behind the scenes tours of rides at Universal?
In order to get a behind the scenes tour at Universal Orlando, there has to be a balance of enough Team Members so that someone is free to do a tour, but it can’t be busy enough so that they don’t have a chance. So, it may be worth asking if you find yourself at Universal on a not-so-busy day!

Are behind-the-scenes tours the same as VIP tours?

Please don’t confuse these behind-the-scenes tours with VIP tours; they are not the same! VIP tours are paid beforehand and can either be private or semi-private. As a Universal Travel Agent, I recommend a VIP tour if you have the budget for it, especially during busy times, but that is completely different than behind-the-scenes tours, which are free!
A behind the scenes tour is the “behind-the-scenes” of a particular ride or attraction. A VIP is a tour by a dedicated Universal tour guide and also lets you skip the lines, has food included, and a few other perks!

How to get a behind-the-scenes tour at Universal

So, how do you get a behind-the-scenes tour at Universal Orlando? Just ask! Walk up to the front of the ride (for this example, MIB) and ask, “is anyone available to do the Immigration Tour?” They will either say “no,” (most likely) or they may direct you to ask someone closer to the front, or say yes and tell you where to go! Either way, it never hurts to ask.
