Breeze Airways First Class
Here on Florida Travel with kids, we do a lot of, well, Florida Travel! When I heard about the Breeze Airways First Class option, I knew I would have to talk about it. Breeze Airways is based out of Tampa, and as far as budget carriers go, it’s definitely our favorite! I plan to cover the airline more in-depth but for now, let’s talk about Breeze Airways First Class options.
If you’re not familiar with Breeze Airways, I’ll be creating a new blog post with my experience flying Breeze from start to finish very soon. In the meantime, let’s learn about the brand new Breeze Airways First Class services.
Once you arrive at your new destination, you’ll likely need to rent a car. I recommend renting a car from Discount USA Car Rental.
Discount USA Car Rental offers the best rates available with nothing due upfront. Simply reserve and pay upon picking up the car. Discount USA partners with the major car rental companies (Hertz, etc.) but has the lowest rates.
What is Breeze Airways?
Started in May 2021 by JetBlue founder David Neeleman, Breeze Airways is a Tampa-based airline currently servicing 17 destinations throughout the Southeast and East Coast.
Like fellow low-cost airline Allegiant, Breeze Airways focuses on smaller airports such as Huntsville Alabama, and Tulsa Oklahoma. I will do a more in-depth review on Breeze Airways soon, but for now, I want to focus on the new First Class offerings coming in May 2022.
Psst…if you’re here because you love cheap flights, you should sign up for deal alerts from Scott’s Cheap Flights. They have a free version (which is fantastic!) and I’ve been using them to find deals on flights for over three years!
How is Breeze Airways different from other low-cost airlines?
For now, the important thing to know about Breeze Airways is that while it considers itself a low-cost airline, they are doing things differently than other low-cost airlines such as Spirit and Frontier. Breeze Airways considers itself “seriously nice” with starting fares offering a bit more than other low-cost airlines.
It’s important to note that while fares start as low as $38, they can vary wildly depending on the day of the week and time of the year.
One thing that sets Breeze apart from other low-cost airlines is no change or cancellation fees. They call it “Low Fares, High Flex,” which means low fares and easy changes. Breeze also offers only non-stop options for a quick and convenient journey.
The “nice” option does not include a carry-on bag, but the “nicer” option does. You can also add the bag separately for a fee. You will earn points (2-6%) for all options, which can be used on future flights for up to 24 months.
While writing this post, I needed to reach out to Breeze regarding an upcoming flight. As a Travel Agent, I reach out to airlines all the time, and it can be terrible to try to talk to a person. I had someone from Breeze text me back within 5 minutes. Honestly, I am impressed with the customer service.
I have nothing to gain from you booking a Breeze Airlines flight. Travel Agents do not earn commissions on flights, but I can say that thus far, I have been impressed with their customer service.
Now that we have discussed the “Nice” and “Nicer” options, we’ll talk more about First Class, the “Nicest” option.
Flying First Class on Breeze Airways
Breeze Airways recently updated its schedule to share the new Airbus A220 Routes.
Breeze will fly A220s from Tampa (TPA) to the following airports starting the first week of May:
- Akron/Canton (CAK)
- Bentonville/Fayetteville (XNA)
- Charleston (CHS)
- Huntsville (HSV)
- Louisville (SDF)
- Norfolk (ORF)
- Oklahoma City (OKC)
- Richmond (RIC)
- Tulsa (TUL)
The A220’s offering First Class Options will begin flights from Charleston (CHS) to the following airports from May to June:
- Hartford (BDL)
- Huntsville (HSV)
- Providence (PVD)
- Richmond (RIC)
- Tampa (TPA)
The brand-new A220s will also fly from Norfolk (ORF) to the following airports from May and Tampa (TPA) in June.
- Columbus (CMH)
- Hartford (BDL)
I am primarily using Breeze Airways to fly to Tampa, which I often visit. Breeze offers two options out of small airports in my area, and I am thrilled that they will offer a First Class option.
What does FIRST-CLASS on Breeze Airways include?
Breeze Airways First Class includes everything on the “Nice” and “Nicer” options plus:
- First-Class Seat
- 6% Breezepoints Earned
- Two checked bags.
The main draw to the First Class seating option is obviously the seats, but you can also check two bags should you choose to do so. As someone who never checks bags this doesn’t apply to me, but I love the idea of the First Class seat (and easier deplaning) for such a small amount more.
Depending on the dates, you can find flights as low as $99 each way. Yes, a First Class ticket from Oklahoma City to Tampa will cost you $198.
What makes flying First Class on Breeze Airways different?
I plan to check it out myself in May 2022, but for now all I can share is what we know so far. What makes flying First Class on Breeze different is that some of the A220’s will be configured with thirty-six First Class seats.
According to Breeze Airways, the initial A220-300 aircraft features a comfortable two-class cabin layout with 126 seats:
- 36 first class seats
- 10 extra legroom seats
- 80 standard legroom seats
Breeze Airways currently has 80 of the A220’s on order.
Is Breeze AIRWAYS First Class Worth It?
Starting at $20 more per way, Breeze Airways First Class is a steal compared to most other options. Will it be as luxurious as flying First Class on other airlines? Maybe not, but if you’ve ever flown a short First Class flight on a “regular” airline you probably know that isn’t so special either beyond the larger seat.
If you are able to swing the extra $40+ for the flight, I would absolutely recommend choosing the First Class option. Remember that these fares start in the summer and First Class will likely sell out first at these prices. With Breeze Airways flexible cancelation policy, there’s no harm in booking trips in advance since there are no change fees.
It is important to remember that while the Breeze Airways First Class flights start at only $20 more per way, that price can go up depending on your dates of travel.
Here is an example (over July 4th weekend) where the Nicest (First Class) flight is $100 more, one-way.
