Dinosaur World Florida Review
If you have a Dinosaur lover in your family, you might be considering a visit to Dinosaur World in Florida. Today I will do a Dinosaur World Florida Review and share if this place is a roaring success or a Falcarius failure.
First, let me just tell you that my youngest son is one of the biggest dinosaur fans you’ll ever meet. I know lots of kids love dinosaurs, but Garrick really loves dinosaurs.
He has about one million dinosaur toys and has even taken Dinosaur Classes on Outschool. Garrick’s favorite movie has been Jurassic World (and all the other Jurassic Park movies) for as long as anyone can remember.
Garrick won’t smile for the camera very often, but there were plenty of smiles at Dinosaur World!
We first visited Dinosaur World for Garrick’s 4th birthday. He liked it better than Disney World, I could end the review with that, but let’s go on and learn more about Dinosaur World instead.
Where is Dinosaur World Located?
Dinosaur World is located in Plant City, only about 30 minutes from Tampa, Florida. There are actually three Dinosaur World locations in the US, the other two are located in Texas and Kentucky.
Of course, here on Florida Travel with Kids, we will discuss Dinosaur World in Plant City, Florida. Dinosaur World is an easy drive from either Tampa or Orlando and a good stop for those heading from Orlando for a day or two visiting the beaches near Orlando.
How much does it cost to visit Dinosaur World?
Dinosaur World entry currently costs about $20 for adults, $15 for kids 3-12, and kids 3 and under are free. Make sure to check out the official Dinosaur World website before you go to check current pricing.
When is Dinosaur World open?
Dinosaur World is open year-round. Although it gets hot in Florida, Dinosaur World has a lot of trees (and large dinosaur statues!) so shade is not hard to find. If you want to get some steps in without getting a sunburn, Dinosaur World is a great place to do just that.
Dinosaur World Florida Review
If you’re driving down I-4 with a dinosaur lover, good luck not stopping at Dinosaur World! While it is considered a “theme park,” Dinosaur World is not your average Florida theme park! Instead, Dinosaur World offers over 50 life-size dinosaur statues in natural habitats.
It’s a great place to get out and stretch your legs. While Dinosaur World is not an all-day adventure, families can spend a couple of hours wandering the park and then enjoy a picnic lunch in the play area.
What can you do at Dinosaur World Florida?
Dinosaur World also offers a Fossil Dig and Dino Gem Excavation.
The Gift Shop at Dinosaur World is pretty impressive and has a large number of gems and fossils as well as everything you can imagine that is dinosaur-themed. Make sure to bring some spending money!
Dinosaur World also offers a museum with real dinosaur bones and fossils. There are also some really fun animatronics in the museum.
Here are some fun facts about Dinosaur World in Florida:
- Dinosaur World is Autism Friendly by The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD)
- Dogs are welcome on leashes
- There are no restaurants but bringing your own food is allowed and encouraged
- Dinosaur World offers field-trip rates
- Dinosaur World is open every day of the year except for Christmas and Thanksgiving
Is Dinosaur World worth visiting?
Yes! We definitely think that Dinosaur World is worth visiting. If you need a break from the beach or theme parks, it’s a great place to spend a few hours. You probably won’t spend an entire day at Dinosaur World, but you can if you want to!
Dinosaur World is a great place to walk around and most of it is shaded so you’ll stay out of the hot Florida sun too. Of course, Dinosaur lovers will have the best experience at Dinosaur World. My other two kids (10 and 13 on our last visit) enjoyed themselves too, despite not being quite as obsessed with dinosaurs as Garrick.
