Legend of Zelda at Universal Orlando

The Legend of Zelda at Universal Orlando

If you’re a fan of Nintendo and planning a Universal Orlando vacation, you may have heard the exciting rumors about The Legend of Zelda at Universal Orlando. Here at Florida Travel With Kids, we’re excited about it too!

While nothing is officially confirmed, speculation has been building for years, and fans are buzzing about what a Zelda-themed attraction could look like. Let’s dive into the rumors, the possible locations, and what families to when Link and Zelda finally arrive in Orlando.

Once the Legend of Zelda at Universal Orlando is confirmed, we will update this post with any new information!

Where would they put The Legend of Zelda at Universal Orlando?

Now, let’s talk about the Legend of Zelda at Universal Orlando! First, let’s start with WHERE a Legend of Zelda land or attraction goes. We believe that the Legend of Zelda could be an entire land, and not just a one-off attraction. So, let’s talk about the possibilities for where it might go.

The two most obvious options are Islands of Adventure and Epic Universe. I don’t think we’ll see The Legend of Zelda at Universal Studios.

The Legend of Zelda at Islands of Adventure

Rumors about a Legend of Zelda attraction have been circulating for a long time, and Islands of Adventure made sense because some areas aren’t really used. We know something is replacing “The Lost Continent,” but we don’t know what. The Legend of Zelda would be the perfect fit, and they wouldn’t even have to do that much to re-theme it.

The only thing that “The Lost Continent” still has that is remotely popular is Mythos, but we think it could be re-themed and kept if the land, or “island”, is turned into a Legend of Zelda area.

So, why in Islands of Adventure and not at Epic Universe? Well, money. Universal has done well by splitting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter over multiple parks. You NEED a park-to-park ticket to fully immerse yourself in that magic.

It makes sense to spread out the Nintendo IPs in a similar fashion. However, we don’t know anything yet, and other worlds – like Pokémon – are also being rumored as a replacement.

The Legend of Zelda at Epic Universe

Another possibility is The Legend of Zelda at Epic Universe. Epic Universe is Universal Orlando’s newest park, offering a blank canvas for large-scale, immersive attractions. We know there is open space near the current Super Nintendo World, and it makes sense that it could expand here.

There’s also a pretty big clue existing in Super Nintendo World, but that doesn’t mean The Legend of Zelda won’t show up at another park.

What a Legend of Zelda Attraction Could Look Like

We have no official details, so this is purely speculation! We could see things like:

  • Ride types: Could be a dark ride, roller coaster, or even an interactive quest-style ride where you complete challenges.

  • Other Attractions: Similar to Sword in the Stone at Disney,  a Master Sword attraction is possible. Korok puzzles are another possibility.
  • Characters: Meet Link, Zelda, and even Ganondorf.

  • Theming: Hyrule Castle, Korok Forest, villages, and dungeons could all be brought to life with Universal’s immersive style. After seeing the rest of Super Nintendo World, our expectations are high!

  • Family appeal: Like other Nintendo lands, the attraction could be designed to delight younger kids while still offering nostalgia for older fans.

Kainan (who is a big fan of The Legend of Zelda) speculates that a land would be based on the newer games like Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom. Alternatively, we may see a generalized Legend of Zelda theme.
