Do I need a rental car for a Universal vacation?
I like to get around as needed while on vacation, so I like to rent a car. If you decide to rent a car in Orlando, I recommend renting a car from Discount USA Car Rental.
Discount USA Car Rental offers excellent rates, and you can use it at MCO or most other Florida airports.

Best Photo Spots at Universal
Here are some of the best photo spots at Universal. I am sharing these in no particular order, but you can probably tell anything to do with the Wizarding World and Jurassic Park are favorites for our family!
Universal Studios Orlando Globe
No list of the best photo spots at Universal would be complete without the iconic globe! It’s typically crowded, but if you wait until later in the day you may be able to get a better photo.
This is definitely one of the best photo spots at Universal, if not the best!
If you have questions about all the Loungefly backpacks and why we love them, check out the best bags for Universal Studios.
Photo Pass photographers are generally around the globe to take photos. So check out this throwback to 2019 when Kainan was shorter than me!
Hogwarts Express at Hogsmeade Station
So many of the best photo spots at Universal are in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. This Hogwarts Express engine (just outside of Hogsmeade Station) is one of them.
This isn’t the actual train, but it’s easier to get a photo here than of the real train!
VooDoo Donuts
VooDoo Donuts has its storefront on CityWalk. Unfortunately, the line still starts early and stays long. However, you can order in the Universal app and pick up a box at the kiosk.
Even if you don’t grab a box of donuts, you can sit on the VooDoo Donuts throne for a picture. This is easily one of the best photo spots at Universal because who doesn’t want to sit on a throne made of donuts?
Garrick was hot, and we didn’t get a photo without him wiping his face. Oh well!
Toon Lagoon’s “I’m Going to Need a Vacation from this Vacation” Sign
There is a sign in Toon Lagoon that says, “I’m Going to Need a Vacation from this Vacation.” What a great photo spot for those who are feeling like that!
The Volcano at Volcano Bay
If you visit Volcano Bay, you won’t be able to miss one of the best photo spots at Universal: the Krakatau volcano itself! By the way, don’t miss 15 Genius Volcano Bay Tips.
Truffula Trees
It is easy to miss the truffula trees within Seuss Landing, but it’s one of the best photos spots in Universal.
Caro-Seuss-El
Get ready to ride the Caro-Seuss-El multiple times to capture the cutest photos of the “beasts.”
Seuss Landing
Honestly, some of the best photo spots at Universal are everywhere in Suess Landing! This area is so cute, so even if you don’t have little kids you should check it out.
The Butterbeer Truck
You know you love all variations of the Butterbeer at Universal Orlando. Don’t forget to grab a photo with your Butterbeer in one of hte many iconic Wizarding World locations.
Did you know you can now order Butterbeer without the topping? This is excellent news if you’re vegan or lactose intolerant! Check out NEW Vegan food at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to learn more.
Yellow Taxi
However, in front of the Beverly Hills Boulangerie at Universal Studios, you may find a Taxi named Maxi. It’s a great place to snap a photo.
New York City Section of Universal Studios
If you want to feel like you have been transported to New York City, head to the New York section of Universal Studios. Classic signs and vintage alleys are waiting for you to explore.
The Knight Bus
The Knight Bus is across from Diagon Alley at Universal Studios. The driver of the bus is usually on hand for pictures.
This is a must-do, but sometimes the line gets long! There’s a more “secret” spot behind the bus for photos and rarely anyone there.
I think the back of the bus is easily one of the best photo spots at Universal. It’s one of my favorites, but it’s not very well-known!
Number 12 Grimmauld Place
Grab a step at Grimmauld Place, home of the Black family. The house-elf, Kreacher, can be seen peeking through the curtains. This is one of the best photo spots at Universal, but not everyone realizes what is going on here!
The Fire-Breathing Dragon
If you’re looking for the best photo spots in Universal, this is it! The dragon in Diagon Alley breathes fire on a regular schedule, about every 10 minutes.
The Three Broomsticks
Grabbing a picture outside the Three Broomsticks is a must.
Hogwarts Castle
Hogwarts Castle is every Harry Potter fan’s dream destination. Unfortunately, it can get busy in front of this castle. I have found one of the best photo spots from the bridge next to the castle. There are fewer people, but you’ll probably have to wait your turn because this spot is no secret!
Hogsmeade
The entire area of Hogsmeade is Instagram-worthy. This is one of the best Instagram spots at Universal. Diagon Alley is another option when you want plenty of pictures in the world of Harry Potter.
Okay, this restroom is NOT one of the best photo spots at Universal. However, it does contain one of the hidden secrets of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! If you go into the women’s restroom, you can hear Moaning Myrtle!
Check out the problem with Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure to learn a little more about this ride. There’s a perfect spot in the queue for a photo of Hogwarts Castle too!
Honeydukes
Taking a photo outside Honeydukes (preferably with your candy haul).
The Herbology Classroom
The Herbology classroom is in the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey queue. It’s one of the best photo spots at Universal because it’s mostly a secret! When the parks aren’t busy, you don’t even go here to see the mandrakes and other creatures.
Bonus points if you have a Herbology shirt!
The Simpsons Ride
You can’t miss the giant Krusty head when you enter the Simpsons ride.
Lard Lad Donuts
Pink-iced donuts are available for purchase in Krustyland. Purchase one and pose next to the Simpson’s patrol officer outside the donut shop.
In front of the MIB sign
Have you achieved the status of “Galaxy Defender?” If so, why not take a photo by the HUGE Men in Black: Alien Attack sign.
Hollywood Sign
Universal Orlando is in Orlando (obviously), but taking a photo by the Hollywood sign is an excellent way to be in Hollywood at the same time.
In the Velocicoaster Queue
You wouldn’t think that a queue (line) would provide great photo ops, but lots of them at Universal do just that! So if you’re looking for the best photo spots at Universal, don’t skip the queues! Some of our favorites include any Harry Potter ride, Minions, Transformers, and of course, the Velocicoaster!!
Jaws
Jaws, the ride may be forever gone at Universal Studios. However, the great white shark is still hanging and is a great photo spot at Universal.
Jurassic Park Jeep and T-Rex
I know you don’t want to come face-to-face with a real T-Rex while at Universal Orlando! But, hopefully, you can handle it just long enough for a photo because this is one of the best Islands of Adventure photo spots!
Jurassic Park Gates
Can you think of a more iconic spot? I can’t! This is one of the best photo spots in Universal, but you’ll have to time it right because this gate goes from Hogsmeade to Jurassic Park, so it’s quite a busy place.
Surf Boards Outside Billabong
There’s a surfboard photo spot just outside the Billabong store in CityWalk! We have a post with a list of things to Do at CityWalk, so make sure to check it out!
If you can’t tell by now, there is one kid who likes finding the best photo spots at Universal, and the other two? Maybe not so much unless it involves Jurassic Park.
Vintage Cars at Mel’s Drive-In
This vintage drive-in serves delicious foods families will love! It’s also a great photo spot at Universal if you love vintage cars.
Simpson’s Fence
The Simpson’s Fence is near the Kwik-E-Mart. Some of the most recognized faces from the Simpsons can be seen on this fence. Stand next to them for memorable pictures. You can also grab some great photos with the characters nearby!
