Here at Florida Travel with Kids, we LOVE Universal Orlando! In fact, we are annual pass holders. You’ll find plenty of Universal travel tips on the blog, so make sure to stick around after you’ve checked out the CityWalk Orlando restaurants list for even more suggestions.
I have a 2023 Universal Orlando planning guide so make sure to check it out when you’re finished here. I also have a post about what to pack for Universal, which is a very important first step before you leave the house for your Orlando vacation.
Do I need a rental car for a Universal vacation?
I like to get around as needed while on vacation, so I like to rent a car. If you decide to rent a car in Orlando, I recommend renting a car from Discount USA Car Rental.
Discount USA Car Rental offers the best rates available whether you’re flying into Orlando or Sanford. As a bonus, you don’t have to pay anything until you arrive at the airport, and cancellation is completely free.

The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen
This is one of the best CityWalk restaurants if you have a sweet tooth. It is a full-service restaurant that offers yummy sundaes, filling milkshakes and delicious chocolate. Yes, you can find popular dishes like steak and seafood here. However, everyone comes here for the desserts and sweet treats at this themed restaurant!
Just remember to brush your teeth back at the hotel!
Bigfire
American cuisine fills the menu at Big Fire. An open fire is used to prepare all the steaks and seafood. This will be some of the best food you have ever eaten, but leave room for dessert. You can have an open flame at your table as you roast s’mores.
The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar
Have you ever heard of burgushi? Well, at The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar, you can try it for yourself! You can order a burger, order sushi, or order them both and see how amazing combining the two can be. Of course, don’t forget the milkshakes, sakes, and all the non-alcoholic specialties.
Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food
The whole family will love dining at Antojitos. This is one of the better Universal CityWalk restaurants, and it’s our family’s favorite of the Universal CityWalk restaurants. Menu items include empanadas, tacos, and fajitas.
You can also order tableside guacamole for a fun experience (and it’s delicious too!) Try to visit on a night when a live band plays mariachi music in the background. It adds a unique vibe. If you need some allergy-friendly options, this is one of the best CityWalk Orlando restaurants.
Cold Stone Creamery
You know you will be craving ice cream when you visit CityWalk Orlando. Cold Stone is one of the best places to grab some. Top it with your favorite toppings, whether that means fruit, candy, nuts, or another available topping. Maybe try them all!
Starbucks
Drinking coffee is a must while wandering around Universal Orlando CityWalk. This quick-service restaurant also offers pastries and sandwiches. You will appreciate both when you need food and coffee!
Don’t forget you can also find a Starbucks inside both Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios and in every Universal Orlando Resort. If you have a Premier or Preferred annual pass, don’t forget that most places (including Starbucks) offer a discount.
Bend the Bao
If you’re craving Asian food, head to Bend the Bao. This is one of the theme park restaurants that offer more diversified cuisine. Think braised duck, crab cakes, and kimchee fried chicken.
Bob Marley – A Tribute to Freedom
Live music is almost always playing at this Universal CityWalk restaurant. It is the perfect place for Bob Marley fans. Everyone can check out the memorabilia while enjoying Caribbean cuisine.
Bread Box Handcrafted Sandwiches
Out of all the dining options on CityWalk, the Bread Box is the one that offers only sandwiches. However, they have many classic sandwich options. Although, you can order fresh salads if you are staying away from carbs.
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co Restaurant & Market
You can bring out your Forrest Gump when you dine at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. This restaurant has everything from shrimp and fish to fried chicken and baby back ribs on the menu. There is even a kid’s menu for those with smaller appetites.
Burger King Whopper Bar
If you want some fast food, you’ll be glad to hear there’s a Burger King in CityWalk. The Burger King Whopper Bar is a step above your typical Burger King. This counter-service restaurant allows you to choose the base of your sandwich. From there, you can add more than 20 different toppings.
Cinnabon
A great place to start the day at CityWalk Orlando is Cinnabon. This Universal’s CityWalk restaurant is close to the parking garages. So, if you arrive early, you can be first in line. This might not be a great option if you’re looking for something healthy, but the smell might draw you in.
Fat Tuesday
Fat Tuesday has multiple locations. However, the only one that is more popular than CityWalk is the one on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. This is the perfect place to grab a frozen daiquiri-style cocktail. Oh, and if you are visiting CityWalk during Mardi Gras, head to Fat Tuesday first. It gets crowded quickly!
Hard Rock Cafe Orlando
This is the world’s largest Hard Rock Cafe. So, it isn’t surprising it is on the list of best restaurants within the Universal Orlando Resort. Burgers, pizza, salads, and sandwiches fill the menu. This is one of the sit-down restaurants that has it all. Plus, you can wander around to see all the rock and roll memorabilia.
Hot Dog Hall of Fame
Do the kids want hot dogs? If you said yes, take them to the Hot Dog Hall of Fame. They’ve got hot dogs from all the famous cities. So, don’t worry if someone is craving a New York hot dog while someone else wants one from Boston. This hall of fame has you covered. They even sell a Vienna hot dog on poppy-seed buns.
Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville
Margaritaville offers the best time out of all the different restaurants at CityWalk. You can order ribs, burgers, tacos, and so much more. Make sure you save room for their key lime pie. Like most of the restaurants on this list of CityWalk Orlando Restaurants, they also have a kids menu.
Try to be seated upstairs if you can. This way, you can look down and check out the Volcano Bar on the floor below.
Lone Palm Airport
Outdoor seating is available at the Lone Palm Airport. Just not where you would expect. Here, you will be sitting underneath the wings of The Hemisphere Dancer. That is one of Jimmy Buffett’s seaplanes. This waterfront tiki bar never disappoints. Arrive early and watch how everyone has a great time.
Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt
This is another one of the best Universal CityWalk restaurants if you want a sweet treat. If you don’t want ice cream or prefer froyo, head over to Menchie’s.
Their frozen yogurt will hit the spot, especially when you add all the different tasty toppings, such as fresh fruit, candy, boba, nuts, and so much more.
As a bonus, Menchie’s offers several dairy-free and vegan options for those avoiding lactose! You can check out more vegan and dairy-free options in our post: How to eat vegan at Universal Orlando and NEW Vegan food at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Menchie’s is another one of our family’s favorite places to grab a snack in CityWalk, and we think you’ll love it too!
Moe’s Southwest Grill
Antojitos is our favorite Mexican Restaurant (okay, our favorite restaurant) in CityWalk, but if you’re short on time, go to Moe’s. They have quesadillas, burritos, tacos, and so much more. There are some gluten-free options too.
NBC Sports Grill & Brew
The high-definition screens at the NBC Sports Grill & Brew will allow you to keep up with all the games that are playing. Of course, you might as well eat while you are watching. Order that burger. Don’t forget to try a new brew too. They have more than 100 brews to choose from.
Panda Express
Grabbing a quick bite to eat is possible at Panda Express. This Universal Studios Orlando restaurant offers delicious Chinese favorites in a fast-food setting. It’s on the second floor of CityWalk, along with Bend the Bao, Burger King Whopper Bar, and a few others.
Pat O’Brien’s
Live entertainment is always available at Pat O’Briens bayou bar. Cajun specialties fill the menu while dueling piano players fill the air. You can get a taste of Bourbon Street and dine on Cajun specialties such as crawfish etouffee or the N’awlins Po’Boy.
Red Coconut Club
If you’re looking for nightlife in CityWalk, head to Red Coconut Club. This tropical nightclub offers VIP table service. It is a great way to unwind after a long day. Just remember this is a 21+ club; this one is not for families with kids.
Red Oven Pizza Bakery
The Red Oven Pizza Bakery is a casual dining restaurant on Universal Orlando’s CityWalk. It’s hard to go wrong with pizza, and they have gluten-free options too!
VIVO Italian Kitchen
Online reservations may be necessary for dining at VIVO Italian Kitchen. This popular Italian restaurant is one of the best Universal CityWalk Orlando restaurants. It may even be more popular than the Leaky Cauldron in Harry Potter. Order any of their signature dishes and be prepared to be wowed by the flavors. If you are brave, you can try their squid ink seafood. This is the only restaurant that serves it on CityWalk.
Voodoo Doughnut Orlando
Sometimes you need a little pick-me-up before you head into the theme parks. The best part about CityWalk is they have Voodoo Doughnuts. VooDoo Doughnuts is extremely popular, so arrive early unless you want to wait in a long time. Mobile ordering through the Universal Orlando app is also an option.

Auntie Anne Pretzels Kiosk
One of the best places to grab a quick snack at this entertainment complex is the Auntie Anne kiosk. You won’t need to wait for a table. You won’t even need to sit down. Instead, order your pretzels and lemonade. Then head out for your next CityWalk adventure.

Where to stay at Universal Orlando
We highly recommend staying at a Universal Orlando resort. There are options for every budget, from those wanting an inexpensive place to stay (Endless Summer) to those who want the best of the best (Loews Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel.)
All Universal Resorts come with early park entry and free bus transportation to and from the parks.
The Premier level resorts, which are Hard Rock, Loews Portofino Bay, and Loews Royal Pacific, also include a free Express Pass for all guests and preferred seating at restaurants throughout Universal.
I highly recommend any of these premier resorts, as the Express Pass can be very valuable on a busy day.
Check out current pricing for all Universal Resorts can be found here:
- Hard Rock Hotel
- Loews Portofino Bay
- Loews Royal Pacific
- Aventura Hotel
- Loews Sapphire Falls Resort
- Cabana Bay Beach Resort
- Universal Endless Summer Resorts – Dockside Inn and Suites and Seaside Inn and Suites.
Where to buy Universal tickets
If you’re still in the planning stages of your Universal Orlando vacation, you might wonder where to get your tickets. We recommend buying your tickets through Undercover Tourist. Unfortunately, there are many really scammy sites out there, so make sure you’re booking through an approved partner like Undercover Tourist.
You can also purchase tickets directly through Universal Orlando or through a Universal Orlando Travel Agent. Just be aware of anything sounding too good to be true. You know the old saying, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Many places are offering free or cheap tickets, but you’ll have to spend time in timeshare presentations. No one wants to spend their vacation like that!
