Sunseeker Resort Review: Is It Worth It for Families?
Here is a Sunseeker Resort Review. If you’re planning a Florida family vacation and want something different from the usual Orlando or beach resorts, Sunseeker Resort on Charlotte Harbor might catch your eye. If you’ve ever flown on Allegiant, you might have seen this resort. It was recently sold to Hilton and is officially Sunseeker Resort Florida Gulf Coast, Curio Collection by Hilton.

That’s a pretty long name, so for the sake of simplicity, we’ll continue to call it Sunseeker Resort! At Florida Travel with Kids, we live fairly close to this resort, so we had never checked it out. Now that we have, I know we’ll be back often for either day passes or to stay! Here’s our Sunseeker Resort review.

Location and First Impressions
Sunseeker Resort sits right on Charlotte Harbor, just 10 minutes from Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) and around 45 minutes from Fort Myers or Sarasota. If you’re flying into any of these airports, I recommend renting a car from Discount USA Car Rental. They offer the absolute best rates on rental cars; you don’t pay until you pick it up, and cancellation is free.
When you pull in, the resort immediately feels modern and upscale with open spaces, coastal decor, and plenty of spots to enjoy the harbor views.

We’ve driven by Sunseeker many, many times, but we were honestly impressed when we stepped inside. I kept telling my husband that it was nicer than I expected! The resort is beautiful, the pools are impressive, and the dining options offer a wide range of choices.

Rooms and Accommodations
This is where Sunseeker Resort really shines for families. You can choose from standard hotel rooms or spacious one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites. The suites are perfect if you’re traveling with kids and want extra space.

The suites were originally built to be condos, so they have all the comforts of home, including full kitchens, a washer and dryer, and plenty of space for the entire family. The suites also have large balconies overlooking Charlotte Harbor.
If you prefer video tours, we have some on our YouTube channel.
Dining at Sunseeker Resort
There are lots of food options at Sunseeker, including:
- Maury’s Steak
- Allegiant Stadium Sports Bar
- Half Cracked Tiki Shack
- Aileron Aviators Club
- Harbor Yards Food Hall with 10 dining options, from pizza to ice cream to a coffee shop.

The kids had some of the cookies here and LOVED them!

Pools and Recreation
The resort features two large pool areas, including a family pool area with plenty of space and lounge chairs. There are also hot tubs plus shallow areas for little ones.

There’s also an adults-only rooftop pool with a quieter atmosphere. I know that most of you reading this will be traveling with kids, but if you aren’t, or if you have someone else to keep an eye on the kids for a while, you have to check it out!
The adults-only pool is on the rooftop and it is HUGE! There’s also a bar and restaurant on the rooftop.

If you like to work out during travel, there is a fantastic fitness center with everything you need for a good workout.

Lorelei Spa offers a variety of spa treatments, including massages, facials, and more.

Other things to mention
Sunseeker Resort has some really fantastic wedding and event venue options. As someone who works with a lot of groups in my travel agency, I think this would be a great option for a group event or wedding.
Things to Do Nearby
Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda are more residential and not really tourist areas, but you’re not far from popular locations like Sanibel, Venice, or Boca Grande.
Nearby attractions include:
- Peace River Wildlife Center – we have a blog post about it!
- Ponce de Leon Park (for manatee spotting!)
- Short drives to beaches in Englewood, Venice (one of the best places to find shark teeth), and Boca Grande
- Easy day trips to Fort Myers, Sanibel, or Sarasota
We have blog posts with 30 things to do in Fort Myers, and the best things to do in Sanibel and Captiva.

Pros and Cons for Families
Now that you’ve read our Sunseeker Resort Review, let’s check out a few pros and cons – mostly pros – for this resort.
Pros:
- Large suites with kitchens and laundry
- Beautiful harbor views and a relaxing atmosphere
- Great pool areas and walkable resort layout
- Close to Punta Gorda Airport (PGD)

Cons:
The biggest downside (and really the only one) to this resort is that it sits on the harbor, not the beach. You’ll have amazing waterfront views, but no sandy shoreline. There are some sandy areas nearby (I don’t want to call them beaches…), but the nice beaches are going to be at least a 30-minute drive.

Sunseeker Resort Review
I hope you’ve enjoyed our Sunseeker Resort review. So, is Sunseeker Resort worth it for families? We think so! If you don’t mind not being on the beach, this is a fantastic resort at a good price point.
I’d be happy to assist you with booking this trip. Contact me for details or a quote! I know the contact form is geared for theme parks, but I’m happy to help with booking your Sunseeker Resort vacation too.
