The Wizarding World of Harry Potter for adults
Today, we will discuss the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for adults! Yes, this website is called Florida Travel with Kids, but sometimes we like going to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter alone as adults, and we think you will too!
From immersive and cutting-edge rides to nostalgia from reading these books as kids, the Wizarding World is a great place for an adults-only escape.
Do I need a rental car for a Universal vacation?
Unfortunately, we Muggles can’t fly on brooms or use flying cars, so when I travel to Universal, I like to rent a car. If you decide to rent a car in Orlando, I recommend renting a car from Discount USA Car Rental.

Why should adults visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter?
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a must-visit destination for any fan of books or movies of any age. With incredibly detailed recreations of iconic locations such as Hogwarts Castle, Diagon Alley, and Hogsmeade Village, visitors are transported into the magical world of Harry Potter.
The park offers a wide range of thrilling rides and attractions, including the thrilling Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride, which takes you through Hogwarts Castle. The park also offers a variety of delicious food and drink options, including Butterbeer and Pumpkin Juice, which are sure to delight any Potterhead.
Overall, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter provides an unforgettable experience that will leave fans of all ages spellbound. Don’t worry; you’ll find plenty of other adults there with no children in site! After all, we are the ones who grew up with Harry Potter!
1. Check out Knockturn Alley
Knockturn Alley is a dark, twisted alleyway in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Visitors can even check out the infamous Borgin and Burkes shop, known for its association with the Death Eaters.
Although Knockturn Alley might be frightening for younger guests, it’s the perfect location for Wizarding World-loving adults. Oh, and the A/C feels pretty fantastic too!
2. Have a drink on the Hogwarts Express
You can’t take alcohol from park to park at Universal Orlando unless you’re on the Hogwarts Express! They actually sell beer in the queue, so if you’re a beer drinker, you can have a beer on the Hogwarts Express. If you don’t drink alcohol (we rarely do) have a Butterbeer instead!
3. Send a postcard from the Owlery at Hogsmeade
If you want to send something special to friends and family back home, send a postcard from the Owlery in Hogsmeade. These postcards also make a great souvenir.
4. Have a pint at the Hogs Head
As an adult, you can enjoy alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! If you don’t drink or enjoy beer, no worries; you can enjoy butterbeer or pumpkin juice instead! Butterbeer gets all the attention, but I love Pumpkin Juice!
5. Exchange Muggle Money for Wizarding Notes
In Diagon Alley, you can exchange your hard-earned Muggle Money for Wizarding Notes. Why? Well, just for fun, but you can also use the Wizarding Notes throughout Universal Orlando.
6. Ride the rides!
If you’re visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter as an adult, you likely won’t have to worry about height restrictions or kids not wanting to ride! One of the best things to do in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for adults is riding the rides.
The rides at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter are nothing short of magical. From the thrilling journey through Gringotts Bank in Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, where you’ll encounter dragons and Bellatrix Lestrange, to unexpected twists and turns of Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure, the rides offer something for everyone.
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey whisks riders on a captivating adventure through Hogwarts Castle, immersing them in the world of Harry and his friends.
The Flight of the Hippogriff is more of a kid ride, but adults may enjoy it too, especially at night when you can see the lights at Hogwarts Castle! Whether you’re a die-hard fan or a casual visitor, the Wizarding World’s rides offer an enchanting journey that will leave you spellbound.
7. Snap a photo in the phone booth.
If you’re looking for what to do at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for adults, why not snap a photo in the phone booth or call the Ministry of Magic?! After all, kids likely don’t even know what a phone booth is!
8. Grab a photo or video at Platform 9 3/4
One of the best things to do at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for adults is to walk through Platform 9 3/4. Remember, one person must stay behind to film the others walking through.

9. Go shopping in Diagon Alley
Shopping in Diagon Alley at Universal Orlando is like stepping into the real Wizarding World itself. From Ollivanders, where you can choose your very own wand (or it can choose you), to Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, there’s something for every witch and wizard.
The attention to detail is astounding, and you’ll find authentic Harry Potter merchandise, including robes, Quidditch gear, and even Chocolate Frogs. And yes, the souvenirs aren’t just for kids!
10. Date night at CityWalk
I know this is a blog post with things to do in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for adults. However, it would be a shame not to mention all the things to do at CityWalk for adults!
CityWalk, with its vibrant atmosphere and an array of entertainment options, is the perfect destination for a memorable date night.
You can grab dinner, see a movie, or enjoy live music at the Hard Rock Cafe.
The night doesn’t end there; indulge in sweet treats from the various dessert spots or savor cocktails at the lively bars. I have a blog post dedicated to the CityWalk Orlando Restaurants List, so make sure to check it out!
Just don’t forget your ponchos because the rain is a very real possibility!
